Digital Transformation
We recently participated in an event sponsored by Process Excellence Network (PEX Network) about Digital Transformation in HR. We led the breakout session Digital Transformation and the Growth Mindset where participants discussed adapting to changing technology, obstacles to embracing digital transformation, and helping employees who feel overwhelmed by constant change.
A point raised by one individual was reminding organizations to be intentional about the implementation of new technology. They stressed the importance of understanding the outcomes the organization hoped to achieve and not going along with a technology or platform because it’s the latest or coolest thing to do—like using AI just because it’s available. The focus, they stressed, should be on leveraging the available tools to the organization’s best advantage. Another participant stressed the value of understanding your employees’ needs. This brought the discussion to why incorporating change management principles into any transformation was necessary.
During the session, we had the opportunity to talk about one of our colleagues and supporters, Dave Asheim who is the founder and CEO of Engage by Cell. The organization is devoted to the use of mobile technology and its ability to assist with so many HR and management functions.
This isn’t the first time we’ve introduced Engage by Cell to our readers. Our blog entitled Micro Communications discussed ways to use mobile technology to communicate information to employees. Enhance the Employee Experience—Go Mobile has other examples. And finally both Employee Benefits and Mobile Technology and Microlearning & Mobile provide roadmaps for using this technology in other areas of HR.
Recently, we received a newsletter post from Engage by Cell with guidance for organizations using text messaging. If text messaging is a technology you use, we hope you find these tips helpful. Please visit Engage by Cell to learn more.
5 Essential Tips for Text Messaging from Engage by Cell:
1. Keep It Short and Sweet. Your recipients are busy, so keep your messages concise. A simple, clear message will likely be read and acted upon.
2. Timing is Everything. Consider time zones and work hours to maximize open rates. Mid-morning and late afternoon are often the sweet spots!
3. Use Visuals. Incorporate visuals like images or GIFs to make your messages more engaging. A cute picture or an expressive emoji captures attention and makes your message memorable.
4. Include a Call to Action. Every message should have a clear purpose. Whether it's "Click here," "Reply now," or "Join us," these prompts guide recipients on what to do next. A strong call to action drives engagement and results.
5. Personalize Your Messages. Address your recipients by name using Engage by Cell's personalization tokens to tailor the content. Personalized messages feel more relevant and can significantly boost engagement.
